Door-to-Door disposal of household chemicals
Getting rid of paint and other household chemicals is just a call away with the Door-to-Door household Hazardous Waste Program. Sponsored by Aurora Water and Curbside, Inc. The program provides a convenient, cost-effective way for residents to responsibly dispose of household chemicals, including paint, batteries, used oil, spray cans and much more (for a cost of $15.00) Residents interested in the service should call 1-800-449-7587 to schedule an appointment, obtain a list of acceptable items and to receive a collection kit that holds the chemicals securely until pickup. Curbside staff can help older residents and those with disabilities prepare their materials for disposal.
For more information, call Mary Dawson.

Southeast Aurora Neighborhood Watch - Annual Picnic, May 2011
It’ll be a while, before our next annual picnic. Our last picnic was held May 15th, 2010, but we’re already starting to plan for next year’s. We’re not quite sure when the picnic will be held, so stay tuned for further updates. It takes quite a bit of time and organizing to get everything situated, so we wouldn’t want to waste a minute. If you’re interested in helping, please contact our Head Area Coordinator to volunteer.
Check out these photos from previous picnics:

Summer Safety Walks - Beginning June, 2010
Starting on the 16th of June, 2010, our PAR Officer (John Cassell), Southeast Aurora Neighborhood Watch Coordinators and Block Captains will be conducting Summer Safety Walks. Our Neighborhood Watch will be walking door-to-door in an effort to raise the level of safety, security and vigilance in our communities.
This door-to-door effort will provide residents with an opportunity to meet the Neighborhood Watch and members of our Police Department. It’s part of our ongoing efforts to organize residents to prevent crime, know their neighbors, sign-up for email alerts, stay safe, and keep their communities secure from crime.
When the Neighborhood Watch knocks on your door, please be aware that we all wear plastic badges indicating our participation in the Neighborhood Watch program. These badges are issued by the Aurora Police Department, after they’ve conducted a back ground investigation. (Never open your door to suspicious individuals, when it’s dark, or you feel threatened).
Our Neighborhood Watch is endorsed and supported by the Aurora Police Department and other city officials. The Neighborhood Watch (aside from our PAR (Police Area Representative)) is composed entirely of volunteers from the community. The Southeast Aurora Neighborhood Watch serves the following communities: Tollgate Crossing, Sorrel Ranch, Wheatlands, Beacon Point, Southshore, Tallyn’s Reach, Serenity Ridge, Black Stone, Saddle Rock - North, Heritage Eagle Bend, and Rocking Horse.
